What does crypto art look like? Ask Filip Yip.

In the last few years, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have become a hot topic, especially in the art world. An NFT is basically a crypto token that can be traded or sold, but can’t be changed, and many artists, like our own Filip Yip, are excited to create work for this brave new virtual world. For years, Filip has designed corporate identities, characters, package design and icon systems for iconic brands like Campbell’s, Budweiser, Clorox, FedEx, Intel, Microsoft, Nestlé and Universal Studios. Now, he’s looking at NFTs as a perfect platform to express his own personal vision and values. His first venture, “Crypto Rose of Love” started with a few master elements, to which Filip applied algorithms from software tools to generate thousands of one-of-a-kind versions, which he then culled, curated, and refined. This month, he and his associates will mint these assets on marketplaces like OpenSea, Rarible, and SuperRare. Will NFTs be the future of fine-art collecting and investing? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, Filip’s enjoying the ride. As he told me this week, “I feel like a kid again, learning new things every day.”
