Portraits of diversity and depth from Stan Evans

For Stan Evans, directing and photographing a recent campaign for Cisco wasn’t just a job. It was doing the work—the work of building social justice. Creating 160 portraits that make a statement about diversity in the workplace involved some serious numbers: twenty different talent, three days of shooting, and multiple locations on the streets of downtown L.A. The project required a lot of problem solving, from deep-outreach casting to ensuring the sets were ADA compliant and keeping talent, crew and clients safe at all times. But what Stan was most proud of was how he and the team succeeded in making everyone on set feel comfortable, seen, and celebrated—and that’s the feeling that shines through in these powerful portraits.
